About Franschhoek
Just a 45 minute drive from Cape Town lies one of the world's most breath-takingly beautiful destinations; the Franschhoek Valley. In the heart of the winelands, Franschhoek has built a reputation for producing top-class wines and internationally acclaimed restaurants, earning it the title of "The Gourmet Capital of South Africa". The Valley was settled in by the French Huguenots over 300 years ago and with them came their rich culture of food and wine.

Dozens of beautiful crafts, art and antique shops line Franschhoek's main road, not to mention the plethora of world-famous restaurants. Franschhoek boasts eight of the country's "Top 100" restaurants.
Densely populated with wine-farms, Franschhoek offers a wide range of wine tasting experiences to suit the palate of connoisseurs and wine novices alike. For the more energetic, there are a number of walking trails in Franschhoek's picturesque mountains, offering unrivalled views over Franschhoek and neighbouring towns.

Every year, Franschhoek plays host to several festivals, including 'The Bastille Festival' (pictured above), The Literary Festival, The Champagne Festival, The Classical Music Festival and The Open Gardens Festival but to name a few.
